Post It Note Poetry #14 – Bedroom Conversation

image

Bedroom Conversation

There was nothing I could do

It just happens sometimes

No, I can’t always control it

I’m sorry your mother noticed

You think it was awkward?

It was an unfortunate erection

Stop laughing; it’s not funny

That’s killed the mood

I’m going to sleep

* I posed the challenge to the members of Post It Note Poetry to write an awkward sexy poem for Valentine’s Day. This is my effort.

Post It Note Poetry #13 – Lawnmowers

image

Lawnmowers

the dividing line of suburbia:

a rickety paling fence

observations made of a

greener side

without adequate qualification

in acts of comparative jealousy

take up your lawnmower

and follow me

there’s a garden to care for

and it’s not on the

other side

of the fence

Post It Note Poetry #12 – Box Of Matches

PINP 12

Box Of Matches

Prometheus’ gift reduced

to domestic convenience

packaged and shelved

waiting for the sulphurous

strike against the edge

a flare ignited

will it burn

twice as bright

and half as long?

Pick one.

Strike it

and see

Post It Note Poetry #11 – The Shortest Distance

PINP 11

The Shortest Distance

Between two people

the shortest distance

is not the coupling

of breathless nakedness

with whispered

secrets betwixt

ear and pillow

but in the extravagance

of the simplest gift

that costs naught

but time

Post It Note Poetry #10 – Untitled

PINP 10

Untitled

When my fears

become a turning point

for courage

and my doubts

make me believe

I will know what

it is to stand upon

feet of clay

against the

turning tide

Post It Note Poetry #9 – Scavenging

PINP 9

Scavenging

She throws crusts

to the seagulls

gathers them close

sends the birds scattering

as she runs

kites on invisible strings

the birds return

as though reeled in

to scavenge on what

she feeds them

before she shoos

the birds to the wind

again

     and again

Post It Note Philosophy #22

PINPY 22The essence of creativity is the permission to make mistakes.

Creativity is stifled when you believe you no longer need to take risks and make mistakes.

Post It Note Poetry #8 – Modern Art of Convenience

PINP 8

Modern Art of Convenience

The gallery’s lights

focus his attention;

precise, sharp, clear.

He glances left and right at

the great expanse of art

and views with a critical eye,

studied poise and the artist’s frames.

A tinny voice grates through

the loudspeaker,

“Can I have a price check

from fruit and veg

to register four?”

Post It Note Poetry #7 – Verisimilitude

PINP 7

Verisimilitude

Fear has a

funny way

of telling you

you’re wrong.

Which means

you’re probably

right.

Post It Note Poetry #6 – Whispers

PINP 6

Whispers

the rain whispers

like a lover

delicately caressing

a saturating moistness

of satiated excess

soaking through

the skin
