Untitled
When my fears
become a turning point
for courage
and my doubts
make me believe
I will know what
it is to stand upon
feet of clay
against the
turning tide
Modern Art of Convenience
The gallery’s lights
focus his attention;
precise, sharp, clear.
He glances left and right at
the great expanse of art
and views with a critical eye,
studied poise and the artist’s frames.
A tinny voice grates through
the loudspeaker,
“Can I have a price check
from fruit and veg
to register four?”
Whispers
the rain whispers
like a lover
delicately caressing
a saturating moistness
of satiated excess
soaking through
the skin

The Public Eye
The spotlight is an all-seeing eye
Unlidded, unrelenting, unforgiving
Pointing out your faults
For public discussion
The spotlight is me
Towards Home
He rounds the bases
Four stepping stones
Four points of the compass
Four corners of the world
Four seasons in one day
Four aces (and a joker)
And the final step
Towards home

Hidden wounds
Seek healing in silence
For anointed oil
Precious balm
Wholeness is found in the voice
Who speaks and asks
She swings back and forth
sky ground sky ground sky
Tempted to jump like her brothers
Momentum atrophies because
Choice remains

Creativity begins as a conversation the artist has within himself. He asks the hard questions of himself in order to create. When he has created he is able to share it with the audience and promote, precipitate or provoke a conversation.
